Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of captionrich at captionrich.com. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

1. The service

captionrich is an in-browser editor for short-form video. You upload a video, we transcribe its audio, and you can edit the transcript, restyle captions, add B-roll and effects, use AI editing tools, and export the captioned result — all in your browser. You can optionally save a project to the cloud to resume it on another device.

2. Your account

You sign in with Google. You're responsible for keeping your Google account secure. You must be old enough to enter a contract in your jurisdiction (and at least 13, or 16 in the EU).

3. Plans, payments, and quotas

Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly through Polar. Your plan sets your monthly export quota and your maximum video length:

• Free — limited monthly exports; videos up to 1 minute.
• Pro — higher monthly quota; videos up to 3 minutes.
• Max Pro — highest monthly quota; videos up to 7 minutes.

AI editing features (such as smart scenes, auto B-roll, motion graphics, and translation) draw on a monthly AI allowance that varies by plan; the Free plan does not include AI features. Cloud save keeps your 5 most recently saved projects — saving beyond that removes the oldest.

See the Pricing page for current quotas. We may update plans and prices; existing subscriptions keep their pricing through their current billing period.

4. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel anytime from the Polar customer portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period — no additional charges, no hidden fees.

We offer a refund within 14 days of your first payment if captionrich isn't a fit. Email support@captionrich.com and we'll handle it.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the videos and captions you create. We don't claim any rights over your content. Editing happens in your browser, and only audio is sent to our transcription provider for the purpose of generating captions. If you save a project to the cloud for cross-device resume, your source video and its assets are stored in Cloudflare R2 under your account; you can delete a saved project at any time, and deleting your account removes them all.

You agree not to use captionrich to create or distribute content that is illegal, infringing, or that targets, harasses, or impersonates others. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service.

6. Acceptable use

• Don't reverse engineer or scrape the service.
• Don't resell access or share your account credentials.
• Don't attempt to bypass quotas, plan limits, or authentication.
• Don't use the service for content that violates applicable laws.

7. Service availability

We try to keep captionrich up and fast, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may make changes, take features offline, or perform maintenance from time to time.

8. Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by applicable law.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will update the effective date at the top of this page; continued use after the change means you accept the updated Terms.
